KNICKS DONATE $10,000 TO UNITED NEGRO COLLEGE FUND

Special player vignettes and halftime entertainment also included as part of the Knicks

Celebration of Black History Month, presented by Amtrak

NEW YORK, February 27, 2008 – The New York Knicks culminate its Celebration of Black History Month, presented by Amtrak, by announcing it will make a $10,000 donation to support the United Negro College Fund (UNCF). UNCF is one of the oldest and most successful private minority education assistance organizations, and the Knicks are honored to be a part in their continued success. At tonight’s game versus the Charlotte Bobcats, Knicks Alumni Relations Advisor John Starks and representatives from Amtrak will present the donation to Frederick Myers, Area Development Director, Corporations and Fred D. Mitchell, Northeast Regional Development Director, Northern Field Operations for UNCF.

 

Throughout the month, the Knicks have celebrated Black History Month through special vignettes of Knicks players and coaches speaking on the importance of Black History and what it means to them. These vignettes have been aired on MSG, as well as, inside Madison Square Garden during Knicks games. Tonight, as a special honor, the game will also include unique halftime entertainment and in-arena features.

UNCF administers more than 400 programs, including scholarship, internship and fellowship, mentoring, summer enrichment, and curriculum and faculty development programs.
