Balls Beyond the Basketballs

If you’re an avid follower of basketball and you wear the jersey of your favorite team from either the professional basketball or college basketball world with pride, then you probably think the best ball to hold in your hands on the whole planet is a vivid orange basketball.  Despite your personal favoritism, however, there are many other types of athletically-oriented balls out there for you to experience, and none of them involve the set beneath your waist (even if these other athletic balls are just as good as measures of your manhood).  Below, we’ll cover three different types of athletic and sports balls out on the market, so in case your whole world revolves around that bright orange ball, you can broaden your ball-handling horizons a bit.

Exercise Ball

Frequenters of the local gym are probably quite familiar with exercise balls.  Big, round, and squishy, but designed only to have the exact optimal amount of give for many stretches and exercises, typical exercise balls are common finds at any gym setting as well as in many homes.  Though you may be an avid basketball fan, you know that part of being a true fan is also knowing how to play the sport (and actually playing it on occasion).  You can hardly play basketball without getting in shape, so by strengthening your core and your overall physical routine by using an exercise ball, you can bring yourself one step closer to playing actual basketball on the court.

Baseball

Basketball fans, like all sports fans, know that sports as a whole needs to be appreciated in order to espouse mutual respect for your sport and the sport preferences of others out there.  If you only backed up your own sport, chances are it would be overrun by another, and the sports haters out there might grab their victory.  In order to expand your sporting horizons, consider learning to play another ball-based sport, perhaps one that has dramatically different dynamics than basketball.  Considering the pace and scoring methodology of baseball, there are few ball-based sports as different out there, so if you really want to broaden your perspective, baseball’s a good way to go.

Stress Ball

Like many athletes and just about any actual sports fan out there, playing and watching games alike allows for a tremendous amount of stress to build up.  If you can’t deal with that stress, try using one of those stress-reducing squeeze balls to help you cope.  When your team is down 10 points after being up by 20 most the game one day, you’ll be glad you have it to get you through that final call of the game.
