It was easy to criticize the strategy. The New York Knicks signed Tyson Chandler to an enormous near-max contract before the 2011-2012 season. In order to contractually align with NBA rules, as wacky as they seem to be many times, the team had to part ways with Chauncey Billups, it's only authentic point guard.

Chauncey Billups doesn't want this to be the end. According to media reports, Billups says his career is not over, and that he will return to the league after tearing his Achilles tendon Monday, abruptly ending his 15th NBA season.
