KNICKS & GARDEN OF DREAMS HOLD DAY OF GIVING THANKS

New York Knickerbocker forward Jared Jeffries, the Garden of Dreams Foundation and The Hain Celestial Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAIN) will host a special Thanksgiving Day event with families from The Children’s Aid Society, Thursday, November 19. The Garden of Dreams Foundation is a nonprofit charity that works closely with all areas of Madison Square Garden, including the Knicks, Rangers, Liberty, MSG Entertainment, MSG Media and Fuse to “make dreams come true for kids in crisis”. Garden of Dreams partners with local children’s hospitals, “wish” organizations and community-based organizations to build on-going, unforgettable programs for children in the tri-state area who are suffering from devastating illness, homelessness, abuse, hunger, extreme poverty and tragedy. The Knicks and Garden of Dreams “Day of Giving” with have two sessions of activities, one in the morning and another in the afternoon.

In the morning Jared will tip-off the event with a visit to Children’s Aid’s Dunlevy Milbank Center’s daycare program. Jared will donate baby items to young families serviced by the program and work with the Center to stock its pantries with food to help these families through the holidays. In the afternoon, Jared will return to the Center with some of his teammates, the Knicks City Dancers and Irwin Simon, President and Chief Executive Officer of Hain Celestial, to donate 300 Thanksgiving Day meals to families serviced by Children’s Aid.

The families will end the “Day of Giving” with a surprise performance from the Knicks City Dancers as well as participate in interactive games on the Knicks Groove Truck.

KNICKS AND GARDEN OF DREAMS HOST “DREAM DAY”

The New York Knickerbockers and Garden of Dreams Foundation team up to celebrate the start of a new season of giving with a fun-filled “Dream Day” at Madison Square Garden Training Center and The Children’s Village of Dobbs Ferry, NY. On Monday, Oct. 12, the Knicks players, coaching staff and dancers will host 30 kids from The Children’s Village at a private day at the training center followed by an event at the outdoor basketball court at The Children’s Village.

First, Knicks players, coaches and Knicks City Dancers will take the kids on a tour of MSG Training Center, including a special locker room visit, basketball skills clinic and autograph session. The players will then join the children at The Children’s Village to spruce up an outdoor basketball court and have a backyard barbecue party to celebrate the day.

KNICKS AND RANGERS HOST GARDEN OF DREAMS WEEK

The New York Knickerbockers and New York Rangers will each host a “Garden of Dreams Night” to raise awareness for the Garden of Dreams Foundation. Garden of Dreams is a non-profit organization that works closely with all areas of Madison Square Garden, including the Knicks, Rangers, Liberty, MSG Media, MSG Entertainment, and Fuse, to “make dreams come true for kids in crisis.”

 

The week begins Sunday, March 22, as the Rangers host the Ottawa Senators. Children from Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Hudson Valley and Starlight Foundation will attend pregame warm-ups and watch the game from a catered suite. One child from Make-A-Wish Hudson Valley will sing the national anthem and another child, from Make-A-Wish Connecticut, will participate in a ceremonial puck drop prior to the game. A child from Make-A-Wish New Jersey will have the opportunity to accompany the game organist on guitar to “Enter Sandman” by Metallica. Children from Make-A-Wish Hudson Valley and Starlight Foundation will participate in a Rangers “high-five line” as players enter the ice for warm-ups.

Garden of Dreams week will continue on Wednesday, March 25 at the Knicks vs. Los Angeles Clippers game when children from Ronald McDonald House, Life Center and Children’s Village will attend pregame warm-ups and the game. One child from Ronald McDonald House will serve as an honorary Knicks City Dancer for the night. A second child from Make-A-Wish Foundation Metro will participate in a ceremonial ball tip prior to the game at Madison Square Garden and children from Ronald McDonald and Children’s Village will receive the chance of a lifetime when they participate in a Knicks “high-five line” during player introductions. The 7th Avenue Squad, the Garden’s newest entertainment team, will feature a special member from Children’s Village to help energize the arena. In addition, all Knicks players will wear Garden of Dreams t-shirts during pregame warm-ups.

KNICKS, LIBERTY AND GARDEN OF DREAMS FOUNDATION RECOGNIZE CONTRIBUTIONS OF NAT ‘SWEETWATER’ CLIFTON AND COACH LAPCHICK

The New York Knicks, Liberty and the Garden of Dreams Foundation will celebrate Black History Month by recognizing the contributions of Nat “Sweetwater” Clifton, the first African-American Knicks player, and Coach Joe Lapchick, who fought to integrate the NBA. The event, at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, will feature two programming sessions with past and present players of the New York Knicks and Liberty, along with a special performance by the Knicks City Dancers and appearances by “Maddie”, the Liberty mascot, and the Knicks Groove Truck. Participants in both sessions will view a short clip from MSG Network’s “Lapchick and Sweetwater Breaking Barriers” and discuss their reactions to the piece. The first session will include Knicks alumni John Starks and Cal Ramsey and Liberty alumni Kym Hampton. Ramseywill join Knicks players Jared Jeffries, Tim Thomas and Malik Rose, Liberty player Tiffany Jackson and 50 children from SCO Family of Services, a Garden of Dreams partner organization, for the second session. Participants of Intrepid’s Kids Week will have the opportunity to attend both sessions.

The New York Knicks and the Garden of Dreams Foundation will celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day by hosting “A Celebration of Change”, commemorating the Presidential Inauguration of Barack Obama as well as the message of Dr. King. This afternoon’s special event will be held at Planet Hollywood in Times Square with special guest, Warner Bros. recording artist Robert Randolph. Thirty foster children from Harlem Dowling, a Garden of Dreams partner, will attend the event alongside Knicks players Chris Duhon, Jared Jeffries and Malik Rose and alumni Cal Ramsey to view a short video of speeches by Dr. King and President-elect Obama. Following the video, the children, players and special guests will break into groups and discuss their personal reactions to the speeches, and create and present their very own “Pledge to Change” group projects. As an additional treat, Randolph will entertain the group with a special video and present them with copies of his latest CD, “Colorblind”.

JARED JEFFRIES AND KNICKS TEAMMATES TO DONATE 300 THANKSGIVING MEALS

For the second consecutive year, Knicks forward Jared Jeffries and his teammates will provide Garden of Dreams Foundation families with food for the holidays. The giving begins this Monday morning at the Children’s Aid Society with Jeffries, Knicks great Allan Houston and President of MSG Sports Scott O’Neil delivering food to the Children’s Aid’s Pelham Fritz Transitional Apartments. Following the delivery, they will donate baby items to Harlem families in need. Later in the afternoon, Jeffries will bring six of his teammates and the Knicks City Dancers back to the Children’s Aid Society where they will distribute food to 300 neighborhood families. The day will also include information for families about food subsidies, workshops on health and wellness, non-perishable food collection and activities for children.

Garden of Dreams children on bus tour of NYC’s famous landmarks

 The New York Knickerbockers and Garden of Dreams Foundation invite media to ride along as they tour New York City’s famous landmarks on a double-decker bus, donated by Gray Line Bus Tours. Tomorrow, Sep. 24, youngsters from The Children’s Aid Society’s Drew Hamilton Center will pick up the Knicks’ newest additions, Chris Duhon, Danilo Gallinari and Anthony Roberson and alumni, John Starks and Cal Ramsey at Madison Square Garden before visiting the Empire State Building, Radio City Music Hall, Rockefeller Center and Times Square. The children will receive a souvenir from the players at each landmark visited, along with a goodie bag and autographs. Before boarding the bus, the players will also distribute vouchers to preseason home games to select lucky fans.

 

            This New York City bus tour will launch the season’s “Show Kids NY” program, a partnership between the Knicks and Garden of Dreams Foundation. The program will feature Garden of Dreams’ children touring New York City landmarks with Knicks players as their personal tour guides.
